“I can tape an ankle”
“If I take the job, I won’t have any free time left, I’ll just have barely enough time to do my classes and my work— I wont have time for this. I want more time to get acclimated to school before I started working somewhere.”
“Don’t be shallow. When you have the chance, be as deep as you can. Open yourself up to people who are close to you and when people ask you how you are doing, be truthful about it.”
“Well, how are you doing?” “I’m doing good” “Simply realize that what we go through is more than just for God’s glory. It’s for our benefit as well because we grow from what we go through and when we experience heavy trial. I have experienced things that have literally brought me to my knees. I’ve been brought to tears because of events that have happened in my life. The only thing I got from those things is that it’s a part of life, but it opens the door to something great. It increases faith. It gives us strength.”
“It’s difficult now. I just got off crutches Friday, so now I can walk on the boot. But I just wanna walk.”
“If you could give advice to a large group of people, what would it be?”
“Be the difference in a world that is broken and fallen, you wanna be the people that is a difference in the world and not blend in with every one. Be a light. There is so much to do in the world and I think you really need to show that. Do it. Journey. Travel.” “I have to adapt myself to blend in this environment. This is a challenge God gave me, so I got to cherish these two years”
“What do you admire about Cleveland?”
“The people. They’re generous, they wanna help. I left Ohio because of gang activity. I’ve had a lot of friends get killed, and I said no way. They were opening up doors and shooting under the doors, kinda like this, to kill my friends, and I said, “its time for me to GO.” That’s when I shot down here. I was on my way to Tampa, Florida and I was gonna go to a Bible college down there but somehow I ended up in Cleveland. So I went up to Greenville, Kentucky to a Bible college. Since I’ve been studying the bible since I was 17, I went through school quickly, very quickly—graduated, got put on staff. I thought when I come back, there would be work all over the place and I came back here and there wasn't work no where. And consequently, I’ve been homeless ever since.” “What's the craziest thing you've ever seen?” “When Obama got elected. Never thought anything like that would happen.” |
